Wow! Three concerts in four weeks! What start to the new school year. The students have been working hard all summer. It was great to see them perfrom so well. At our first group concert the students sure had a alot of fun playing old pieces in new ways! Sunflower farms graciously requested we play for their FarmFest again this year. The kids had a wonderful time watching a small hen "dance" to the music! And at the solo recital the students played thier best. Thank you parents for your hard work and dedication! If anyone has pictures from these last three events send them to us!
Thank you to all of our students and parents! The concert was great! We were able to raise $630 for the Humane Society. Mateo and Hannah (our canine visitors) really thank you!
We are excited to announce our 2nd annual benefit concert "Play for Pets." This year the students will be earning their pennies for the Longmont Humane Society. Our concert will be on April 17th at 2:00 pm at the Long's Peak United Methodist Church. Please join us for this fun and playful concert!
We are so fortunate to have found a place. Thanks to all who helped us organize in order to make this happen! Long's Peak United Methodist Church will be our new home. We will hold classes on Mondays, beginning October 5th.
Please register now for Fall '09 classes and watch for more detailed information. We look forward to starting off the new year! Long's Peak United Methodist has given us approval and scheduling clearance to hold group classes as well as private teaching during all our requested hours. We still need to provide proof of our nonprofit status, as well as proof of insurance. Our hope is that Longmont Council of the Arts will take us in as part of their nonprofit umbrella for the time being. We still need to come up with a long term solution.
What we still need: A core parent group to organize in order to get LCA's attention. We've had several people put in phone calls and emails, but we're lacking some response still. As soon as we can get confirmation to provide for Long's Peak United Methodist, group classes can resume! Perhaps several warm bodies marching into Longmont Council of the Arts might give them a reason to get this discussion moving? Other leads: Guitars, etc. is willing to host us as part of their music school, but we are unsure of space limitations at this point. Please continue to comment here with any updates or suggestions. We appreciate all you are doing! Let's keep this going! We want to say “Welcome Back” but are dealing with a major dilemma instead! We have a problem and we need your help. Over the summer we teachers have spent countless volunteer hours trying to find a suitable location for our group classes and concerts. We also need teaching space for Barbara, Karla and Megan.
We were hopeful that LifeBridge would be the workable venue. Because of recent changes in our faculty lineup, we can no longer afford the rent at LifeBridge. Please register for group classes by Sept. 14, 2009. The registration form is accessible here. We are excited to start a new year of group classes with many new changes, which include scheduling and location. See you at our kickoff event: Carmel Apple Concert!
Our Longmont Suzuki Strings Community has experienced the sudden loss of a husband, father, dear friend, and fabulous piano accompanist, Bruce Patterson. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, May 2, 10:30am at Central Presbyterian Church in Longmont. A viewing will be held Friday, May 1, 5-7 pm at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. |
